Tony nait le 22 décembre 1939 à Newark dans le New Jersey. Lui et son frère Ben fréquentent l’université du Maryland où ils font partie de la même équipe universitaire de football. Tony débute comme chanteur, enregistre des disques puis se produit dans un spectacle musical à Las Vegas, à la suite duquel on lui propose d’intégrer le groupe d’artistes de la 20th Century Fox. Il obtient le prix de la révélation masculine de l’année pour son rôle dans « La vallée des poupées » de Mark Robson, aux côtés de Sharon Tate et Susan Hayward en 1967. Tony was born on December 22, 1939, in Newark, New Jersey. He and his brother Ben attended the University of Maryland, where they played on the same college football team. Tony began his career as a singer, recorded albums, and then performed in a musical show in Las Vegas, after which he was offered a spot in the 20th Century Fox talent roster. He won the award for Best New Male Star of the Year for his role in Mark Robson’s Valley of the Dolls, alongside Sharon Tate and Susan Hayward, in 1967.
Le jeune premier sort quelques singles en solo : « Devil Or Angel » (1969) et « It Won’t Hurt To Try It » (1971) puis d’autres avec son groupe Heaven Bound. Mais c’est en qualité de producteur qu’il montrera tous ses talents. Il quitte la Fox de son plein gré pour la MGM où il devient vice-président junior du département de production de disques. Avec ses frères Ben et Fred, il fonde la Scotti Bros Records en 1974, une société de marketing musical, qui promeut notamment ABBA aux Etats-Unis. La société se lance ensuite dans la télévision (America’s Top 10, Alerte à Malibu). Sous le nom de Scotti Brothers, elle produira même plusieurs films « Le triangle de fer », « Lady Beware », « L’œil du tigre » et « He’s my girl » (qui lancera David aux Etats-Unis). The young star released a few solo singles: “Devil Or Angel” (1969) and “It Won’t Hurt To Try It” (1971), followed by others with his band Heaven Bound. But it was as a producer that he truly showcased his talents. He left Fox of his own accord to join MGM, where he became junior vice president of the record production department. With his brothers Ben and Fred, he founded Scotti Bros Records in 1974, a music marketing company that notably promoted ABBA in the United States. The company then ventured into television (America’s Top 10, Baywatch). Under the name Scotti Brothers, it even produced several films: “The Iron Triangle,” “Lady Beware,” “The Eye of the Tiger,” and “He’s My Girl” (which launched David’s career in the United States).
Tony rencontre Sylvie lors du festival international de musique de Tokyo en avril 1981 et l’épouse le 2 juin 1984. Ensemble, ils s’installent dans l’ancienne maison de l’actrice Rosalind Russell à Beverly Hills. Tony met Sylvie at the Tokyo International Music Festival in April 1981 and married her on June 2, 1984. Together, they moved into the former home of actress Rosalind Russell in Beverly Hills.
Tony exporte le spectacle de Sylvie à Vegas, Atlantic City ou Los Angeles. Parallèlement à Survivor, Weird Al Yancovik et James Brown, il produit également ses disques à l’international (UCLA, Running scared pour Coca-Cola puis un remix d’Irrésistiblement pour le Japon). Tony takes Sylvie’s show on tour to Las Vegas, Atlantic City, and Los Angeles. Alongside Survivor, Weird Al Yankovic, and James Brown, he also produces her albums internationally (UCLA, “Running Scared” for Coca-Cola, and a remix of “Irrésistiblement” for Japan).
C’est également lui qui prendra David sous son aile et l’incitera à mener une carrière solo dans la chanson. He was also the one who took David under his wing and encouraged him to pursue a solo singing career.
En 1997, Sylvie et lui adoptent Darina, une fillette née en Bulgarie. In 1997, Sylvie and he adopted Darina, a little girl born in Bulgaria.
Depuis 2009, Tony distribue les enregistrements de Sylvie pour Sony et s’implique dans la mise en scène de ses spectacles. Since 2009, Tony has been distributing Sylvie’s recordings for Sony and has been involved in directing her shows.
Le 2 juin 2024, Sylvie a fait une belle déclaration d’amour à son époux sur Instagram: “Quarante ans de bonheur ! Je ne les ai pas vus passer… Merci d’avoir illuminé ma vie !!! You are everything I dreamed of (Tu es tout ce dont j’ai rêvé, en français) !”. On June 2, 2024, Sylvie posted a beautiful love note to her husband on Instagram: “Forty years of happiness! I can’t believe how fast the time has flown by… Thank you for lighting up my life!!! You are everything I dreamed of!”
